Single Trip cover is provided for the period of the trip and finishes when the trip ends, providing the trip doesn't exceed the period shown in the policy schedule. Under these policies you will be covered for cancelling a trip from the time you pay the premium.
Cover is provided for the 12 month period as stated in the policy schedule. During this period any trip not exceeding the maximum days shown in your policy schedule is covered. Under these policies cancellation cover will start from the date stated in the policy schedule or the time of booking any trip (whichever is the later date).
Here you have 4 options:
Just me; if you only want to cover yourself (even if you're travelling as part of a group) then this is the option for you
Two of us; if there are two of you travelling, you're in a relationship and cohabiting, then you can purchase a couples policy.
My Family; if you're a family travelling, or if you're a single parent family, then you can purchase a family policy.
A Group of us; this is essentially just a collection of individual policies, though purchasing as a group will save you time as one person can do the buying on behalf of everyone travelling.
Please be sure you correctly update the medical declarations for all the travellers on a policy to ensure cover is provided.
If you are purchasing a Single Trip policy, please ensure you tell us all the countries you are travelling to.
If you are purchasing an Annual policy, then read on... At Puffin we split the world up into a series of regions and all you need to tell us is which region the country you're travelling to is in. The regions are:
Europe
Worldwide (excluding USA, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean)
Worldwide (including USA, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean)
You'll need to choose a region that encompasses all countries that you're travelling to and this is where the order we've listed the regions in becomes important. Each region listed, includes all the countries that are listed in the region(s) above it. So, for example, "Worldwide (excluding USA, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean)" includes "Europe". It is important that you check that the country you are travelling to is covered in the region you select. To see all the countries that are included in the regions, please see our country list (in the Travel Insurance Guide)
The duration is the number of days from when you depart for your holiday to when you arrive back at your home.
For Singe Trip policies, tell us the day that you start your trip (i.e. leave your home). Even though you may not be departing for some time, your cancellation cover is in effect from the day that you purchase the policy.
For Annual policies tell us the day that you want the policy to start (become "in force"). Remember, this is not the day of your first holiday as if you've already booked a holiday you will want the policy to be in force (started) so that you have cancellation cover.
Fill in the date of birth of all the travellers. Adults have to be 18 or over and children must be under 18.
We offer a variety of optional extras for our policies. The most popular ones are listed here however you will have the option to add others on the next page. Click on an option to add it, click on it a second time to remove it.
Gadget is included as standard on all Platinum level policies up to a cover level of £500, however you can still add the optional cover of £1000 if you would like a higher level of cover.
It is essential to provide accurate information about any pre-existing health conditions to avoid the risk of a declined claim. If you fail to declare any pre-existing medical conditions we may refuse to deal with your claim or reduce the amount of any relevant claims, even if a claim is not related to any undisclosed pre-existing medical condition.
Please Note: If any travellers have symptoms which they have yet to seek medical advise for, or if they are currently seeking medical advise for a symptom or condition but are yet to receive a diagnosis we are not able to provide any cover.
If you or anyone travelling on this policy have any pre-existing medical conditions then you must declare them or your policy will be invalid. If you answer 'YES' to this question then we'll ask you some more details about the conditions on the next page (this process is known as "medical screening"). If you're unsure if you need to declare any conditions, then you should go through the medical screening processes anyway to ensure your policy is valid, minor conditions are unlikely to effect your insurance premium.
If you are declaring conditions on behalf of a child or another person on this policy, you must have their consent and full knowledge of their condition. If you are unsure of an answer in respect of another person on this policy, please check with them before proceeding. Failure to disclose full medical details including all medications taken may result in a claim being denied.
We do not provide cover for other people not insured with us on whom a trip may depend, such as relatives or business associates.
